Come to Me and rest

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28

First, it is extended to the unbeliever who has never tasted the sweet rest that Christ gives to the weary soul. To such a one, Jesus Christ still says, “Come!” Second, it is for the saint who has already received Christ but continues to carry burdens in their own strength. To the believer, this is a gentle reminder that a walk with God is all‑inclusive—His grace, His care, and His rest cover every area of concern. Let us not be like the man who received a free car ride yet refused to take off his backpack. When the driver asked why he was still carrying it, the man replied, “You have already done so much for me. I didn’t want to add more weight to your load.” This is exactly how we behave at times. God cannot be burdened by our issues or needs. He has invited us to cast our cares upon Him and rest instead.
